Boston Vacay Recap

We've been back from our Boston vacation for a couple of weeks now, but it seems like I've had NO time to sit down and go through the pictures and post this blog.  We're in the process of moving, so packing, cleaning and organizing have been taking priority over blogging, Facebooking, and pinning!!  Boo...

We had such a wonderful time and we weren't ready to come back!  The temperature was high 70s, low 80s the whole time we were there, so we tried to spent every moment we could, outside!  My sister and Brian took us to Ogunquit, Maine on Friday, we went to the Boston Gardens and Boston Commons on Saturday, church, brunch and then hanging out with the Lee's on Sunday, apple picking on Monday, and then back home to Illinois on Tuesday.  It was a jam packed trip and our little Violet was just an angel the whole time.  She was getting so much attention and she loved it!  She was definitely hammin' it up for my parents, Eemo (this means Aunt, in Korean) and Uncle B.
I'm going to just let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
(Brian, my brother in law, is a professional photographer, so he took most of the pictures while we were there!  I don't have the files to the pictures yet, so the ones below are mostly from my iphone...obviously, not as good as the ones Brian took!  I'll post those later when he sends them to me.  But that also explains why he's not in any of the pictures below...b/c he was behind his own camera the whole time!)

Thanks to my sissy and Brian for taking us around New England and spoiling Violet with so much attention, love, gifts and yummy food!!  We miss you both so much!!!

Violet was a little more restless on the plane this time, mainly because she's now crawling and pulling up on things.  Making her sit for 3 hours wasn't the easiest task, but she certainly was still good during both flights.  As long as she has Dinosaur's Binkit, we're good to go!

My sissy....we're nothing alike, but she's one of my favorite people in the whole world.

If you're ever in Maine, you MUST go to Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier.

This is a picture from their website.  It's the coolest location to eat some fresh lobster!
Eemo and Violet having fun at Chauncey Creek.  There was a little girl there that was entertaining Violet, as well.

Violet getting to see her first light house!

After eating some fresh lobster rolls, we went up to Ogunquit, Maine and went for a beautiful hike.  Violet mostly slept in the stroller and the rest of us pretended to be on the movie, Cliffhanger.

It was really chilly and breezy, but V was snug as a bug the whole time!  And apparently very serious....

This was at the Boston Commons.  Violet rode her first carousel ride.  In case you can't tell from the picture above, she LOVED it!

It was the MOST beautiful day to spend at the Boston Gardens.  Violet took a nap, we all went for a stroll and we even got to see a wedding take place!  The whole day was just picture perfect.

We got to meet up with my sister's friends, and their ADORABLE son, Jacob.

I think they're in awe of eachother...

My happy little lady!

Still at the Boston Commons...she definitely looks like a bored diva in this picture...

Eemo took Violet to see the "Make Way for Ducklings" ducks!

I just love her face in this one.

Uh oh...looks like she doesn't like this particular duck!

I'm pretty sure Violet has these 3 wrapped around her little finger!!

I'm pretty sure Violet can do no wrong in Grandpa's eyes!

Smiles all around!!

This is Violet's first time apple picking.  She napped for most of it!

Dear Violet...

I'm surprised I even found the time to write this blog post!  Right now we're spending a few days in Boston (more on our East Coast vacay later), having fun with Eemo, Uncle B, Grandma, Grandpa and Daddy.  The older you get, the more hectic our lives seem to get!  Our lives are getting crazy, but in a good way!  I can honestly say that this past month has disappeared in the blink of an eye.  Every time I look at your sweet face, I can tell it's changing...you're losing the baby look and starting to look like a big girl!  This makes my heart flutter and hurt all at the same time.  Why oh why do you have to grow so fast?  I love watching you grow and do all your tricks, I just wish you would take it one step at a time!  You're so ready to walk and be a big girl...and I'm just not ready for that!  Your sweet friend, Laura, was born a couple of weeks ago and it really put into perspective just how big you are and how much I long for my little bitty baby...I know all this may sound silly and a bit deranged, but someday, God willing, you'll understand.

You (and I) survived your first cold.  Watching you be sick tore my heart into little pieces.  I've never felt so helpless and powerless.  I would've done anything to take away your sickness.  I know that it was just a silly little cold, but I could tell all you wanted was for me to make you feel better.  We're so blessed that you have been so healthy these past 8 months and I hope you stay healthy and strong.

Here are some of the things you've been up to this past month:

--You are crawling.  EVERYWHERE.  You started crawling right after I wrote your 7 month post, so you've basically been crawling for a month.
--You are pulling up.  ON TO EVERYTHING.  It was just 4 days after you started crawling, that you started pulling up on everything!  You never cease to amaze me!  You might be a petite little thing, but you're strong and very determined.
--You stood on your own for about 4 seconds a few different times.
--Because you're crawling and pulling up on everything, you seem to have more bumps and bruises on your little noggin.  When you fall, you cry for about 3 seconds, and then you're over it and ready to crawl again.  Such a tough little cookie!
--You love to crawl under our red chair and try to get the extension cord.  Drives. Me. Nuts.
--You are eating stage 2 food and some table food.  You get sooooo excited when I give you table food!  You start kicking your legs and pounding your hands on the high chair.  You open your mouth as wide as it can possibly go!  It's so stinkin cute!
--Here is a list of table food that you love:
Meatloaf
Italian chicken
Bananas
Mangos
Crackers
Tofu
Broccoli
Bulgogi
Brown sugared carrots
Toast with jelly
I'm pretty sure you're going to skip stage 3 food and go straight to table food!
--You are definitely teething.  Your bottom front two teeth are so close to popping out!  I can practically see the darn things!
--You still go to Nam's 1 day a week and you love it.
--We are currently on your second vacation, in Boston!  (More on that later!)
--You started saying "Ahpa" a few weeks ago, which means, "Dad" in Korean.  But last week you started saying, "Dadda."  Now you say Dadda on command!  Such a smart girl!
--When I call your Dadda on the phone and put it on speaker, you get so excited to hear his voice.  You smile, laugh, shout and try to grab the phone.
--You have a very loud voice now...and you love to show it off...especially during quiet times at church!  You love giving shout outs to God!
--You are still in a size 3 diaper but now you're wearing size 6-9 month sleepers.
--You are pretty much wearing 6 month clothes, but very close to growing out of them.
--You love to touch faces and grab noses.
--You LOVE books.  Your favorite book is "Dinosaur's Binkit."  Your buddy Lincoln got it for you.  As soon as I put the book on your lap, you start to laugh and kick your legs so hard!  You love to open the little pockets.  We're about the wear the little pages out!  I might have to buy another copy!
--You went on your first tractor and 4 wheeler ride with Pop.  I wasn't there but Nam said that you loved it.
--You laugh so hard when we give you an object (like a wash cloth) and then take it away really fast.  We do it over and over and over and you give us the best belly laughs!
--Your eating and sleeping schedule is somewhat similar to your 7 month schedule.  You wake up at 7 and take a 7 ounce bottle, then we eat some fruit and oatmeal around 8:30.  Then you go down for a nap at 9 and sleep for only 45 minutes to an hour.  Then you eat some veggies and some fruit around 11:30, then go down for your nap at 1.  You drink a 7 ounce bottle for that nap.  You sleep for 2 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less.  Then you eat dinner, veggies, fruit, and some table food at 5, take a 7 ounce bottle at 7:30, and in bed by 8.  You've been sleeping from 8 to 7 everyday.  Sometimes you wake up crying and just need your binky.  I really think it's just because you're teething.
--Sometimes you wake up around 6 am, have a quick chat with your imaginary friend, then fall back asleep.
--You love to walk up and down the hallway.
--You love to push your mail cart toy around the house.
--We love to sit outside in our yard and watch the school buses go by our house at 3 o'clock.
--You love to hear the crunch of dead leaves.
--You love to give open mouthed, slobbery kisses...and I love them more than anything!

My love for you seems to grow by the second. When I'm rocking you to sleep, sometimes you open your eyes and gently touch my face.  That's the best feeling in the world.  I never would've imagined something that small could make my world go round.  You truly make me a better person and make me want to be better every single day.  Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives.  You are the happiest little girl in the world and you make me the happiest little mom in the world.  I love you, sweet V.

Love,
Mommy
